Synopsis

Tales from the Occult 2 is a sequel to the 3-part omnibus and is a more ambitious work than its predecessor, swaying towards the psychological thriller genre. Frank Hui’s Rapunzel tells the story, which begins when a female model, sexually harassed by a record company CEO, visits a hair salon where a psychopath works. Daniel Chan’s Cheshire Cat is a nightmarish urban legend that slowly unveils the person who killed Nora’s cat, Bobo, as the trauma continues to haunt her. Doris Wong’s Tooth Fairy details the horrors that any person can experience at a dental clinic. Karena Lam who starred in Leslie Cheung’s last film, Inner Senses (2002), gives a memorable performance as the mysterious dental clinic nurse. (JU Sungchul)

Frank HUI

Frank Hui is a Hong Kong film screenwriter and director. He was born in Hong Kong in the 1980s. He graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2005, majoring in Film and TV directing. Frank has directed various short films, MVs and commercials. Frank has won the best director at the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards and nominated for the best new director at the 53rd Golden Horse Awards with Trivisa.

Daniel CHAN

Born in Hong Kong and grew up in Australia, Daniel Chan began his filmmaking career with the serial killer films Half Lit, 2003 and Cross,2010 starring Simon Yam. He followed by directing a trio of gangster films, cementing him as a genre filmmaker in Hong Kong. He then moved onto direct the action films Sifu VS Vampire and We are legends in 2014 and 2019. Tales From The Occult 2: Cheshire Cat is his 9th film as a director and marks his first foray into the horror genre.

Doris WONG

Doris Wong is a filmmaker whose work has been critically acclaimed at film festivals worldwide. Her first feature directorial debut New Turn was selected in Seattle International Film Festival, Asian Film Festival of Dallas, and Cinemasia Film Festival in 2018. She is a graduate in Comparative Literature from the University of Hong Kong, and holds an MFA in Film, TV and Digital Media from Hong Kong Baptist University.
