Synopsis
Three female passengers, with different reasons and destinations, go on a journey in Blasco’s retro van. The trip of the four ill-matched people is full of tension. As Blasco chooses a shortcut, they have an accident, but that’s just a prelude to the madness to come. Directed by Raúl Cerezo and Fernando González Gómez, The Passenger is a travel horror story that blends common elements of horror films, such as claustrophobia with aliens snatching human bodies. Their directing particularly stands out in developing character narratives while keeping the tension, as well as smoothly connecting the comedy and horror elements. A sense of vintage is felt throughout the film making an old-school horror, from special effects to filming, editing and vintage props, including stills cuts of the 1980s TV series V. (Jin PARK)
