Synopsis
The film adaptation of Horang’s notorious webtoon, which inspired the ‘Ok-su Station ghost syndrom’, Ok-su Station Ghost is directed by Jeong Yong-ki (The Doll Master, 2004) and co-written by Takahashi Hiroshi, who worked on The Ring (1998). The film begins with the infamous ghost lady who is mistaken for a drunk woman. It then jumps back a month to journalist Na-young (played by Kim Bo-ra) who is on a murder case that occurred at Ok-su Station. With the help of her friend and train station worker, U-won (played by Kim Jae-hyun), she realizes the construction of the train station on a well that has disappeared holds the key to the case. The film steers away from the webtoon with elements reminding fans of The Ring of the 1998 horror, and for younger fans, it offers a hybrid joy ride that combines aspects from Korean and Japanese horror.
