Synopsis
Lily makes money by live streaming her daily life. She looks at her boyfriend’s cell phone by chance and discovers he’s having an affair with her best friend. This breaks her heart, and he leaves. Messed up, she becomes a kleptomaniac. She steals a neighbor’s parcel and gets a cell phone from it and the phone sends messages to Lily. Then a horrible thing happens to the ex-boyfriend and her best friend, just like Lily wants it to. In a bid to increase her number of followers, Lily makes a deal with this existence beyond the cell phone. Danny Pang, who is building his fame in genre film, has returned after a long time. To depict terror from familiar things, he tells a story of a lonely young female live streamer with the cell phone and social media, which is all too familiar to us these days. She is betrayed by her closest friend and can’t rely on anyone. There might be beyond the cell phone, but not in the real world. The film is unexpectedly plaintive through feelings of loneliness, even though this is unveiled in a familiar way, following horror film grammar. (Ellen Y. D. KIM)
