Synopsis
Kikukawa Reiji enters a Yakuza syndicate as an undercover agent to extract information. He gains notoriety through unintentional success, earning his boss’s trust through an international drug deal of 600 billion yen. While he plans a raid on a luxury cruise, the situation becomes unpredictable due to the entangled relationships around Reiji, a blood brother, a lover, and the boss’s violent eldest son. Director Miike Takashi is known for films based on the manga series ever since Crows Zero (2007). This is his latest film and the finale of the comedy/crime trilogy, following The Mole Song: Undercover Agent Reiji (2013) and The Mole Song: Hong Kong Capriccio (2016). Distorting the conventions of Yakuza films, the director maintains his manga-like exaggerated approach offering subversive B-movie’s pleasure. (CHO Jaewhee)
