Synopsis

A corporate lawyer named David Burton is asked to act as Defense Attorney for some Aborigines involved in a murder case. When he first encounters his clients, one of the Aborigines unnerve him because he recognizes his face from a recurring dream. After his father, who is a minister, tells him that when he was a child all of his dreams came true, David becomes convinced that this was no coincidence. Through the course of the film. David unveils many secrets behind this murder case. He not only discovers the truth about what really happened, but how he himself is indirectly involved with the murder. Director Peter Weir composes a suspensful mystery that deals intelligently with sensitive race relations between Anglo-Saxons in Australia and native Aborigines.

Peter weir was born in Sydney, Australia in 1944. He first made underground films and worked in theater as an actor, director, and writer. He has been working as a filmmaker since 1967, and made his first teature film named HOMESDALE in 1970. In 1973 Peter Weir directed his second feature THE CARS THAT ATE PARIS which received international acclaim at Cannes Film Festival in 1974. PICNICAT HANGING ROCK is his third feature, and the most successful Australian film. The LAST WAVE is forth feature.
