Synopsis
Fletch, a street performer, waits patiently for a woman he would love for the rest of his life. In his dream, he meets a beautiful woman named Formosa, which is the ancient name for Taiwan, and instantly falls in love with her. Believing that his woman lives in Taiwan, he heads towards the island but later discovers that Formosa is actually a name of a little café in the L.A. airport. Fletch continues his journey and flies to L.A. airport where he finally finds the woman in his dream, Rose, in Formoso Café. Rose follows Fletch to a peaceful town in Texas Believing that he is also the lover in her strange dreams which she’s been having every night. But she soon finds out that Flech has no way of making a living with his street perfomance acts, and leaves him for LA. Rose wants to continue her past lifestyle of dating rich men, but she cannot get away from her memories of innocent and naïve Flech.
A love story based solely on its romantic aspect can be a bit antiquated, but direcor James F. Robinson wants to narrate a story about innocent love using fantasy images and incorporating a dream-like quality into the film. The contrast between the life of Rose who lives a fast paced partying life and Fletchs calm and peaceful lifestyle is enhanced by the stark differences between the high society of Los Angeles and a quaint secluded town in Texas.
