Synopsis
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of cinema, 1150 directors were invited to shoot a one-minute film with the original Lumirer camera.
Thirty-nine were both willing and able. Still, more than enough short work well enough to warrant a high recommendation. Some of them are: Claude Lelouchs salute to cinema and cinematic kisses, Idrissa Ouedraogos brief comedy, a David Lynch masterpiece, and Alain Corneaus beautiful, hand tinted study of a dancer. Other famous filmmakers included in this ensemble, to name a few, are JacQues Rivette, Useff Shahin aabass Kiarostamy, Wim Wenders, Kosta Gabrass, Peter Greenaway, Spike Lee, John Booreman, James Ivory, Zhang Yimou, Arthur Penn, Andrei Kontchalopsky, and Jacque Van Domael. During the course of the film, all 30 filmmakers were asked three questions during a short interview; Why did you accept this project? Why do you make films? And Do you thing films are destined to die? Each filmmaker give their insights with eloquent responses. With insightful interviews from famous filmmakers in addition to a compilation of original short films, there wasn’t a better way to celebrate cinemas 100th year anniversary.
