Synopsis
The story begins with a truck driver named Kyoko who set off to New York to find her GI friend Jose. She was only eight years old when she first met her childhood friend. They both had a memorable experience together. Jose introduced her to mambo music and taught her how to salsa. “Come and find me when you grow up” where Jose’s last words to Kyoko, and they promised to see each other when they grew older.
When They finally meet, Kyoko finds her friend suffering from AIDS and severe memory loss. Yet it is only the beginning of another life-changing journey when Kyoko decides to fulfill Jose’s dream of reuniting with his family in Miami
KYOKO is truly an international movie created through various production companies around the world. Ryu Murakami, creator of ALMOST TRANSPARENT BLUE and COIN LOCKER BABIES directs his third feature film and Roger Corman, famous for low budget films, takes charge of executive producing. Ryu Murakami demonstrates a wide range of creative talents in KYOKO. He is the writer, director, and music director for the film.
