Synopsis

What would you do if you met your beloved family again after they all passed away in a tragic accident? In Nobuhico Obayasi’s GOODBYE FOR TOMORROW, the most inconceivable is possible. A cruise ship sinking to the ocean floors during a violent storm. As time passes, mysterious letters have been sent to the victim’s families, but all containing the same message. As they have been told, many people from different backgrounds gather at the pier and anxiously wait for a miracle. When the clock strikes twelve midnight, the sunken ship emerges from the sea and everyone is given a brief moment to reunite with their loved ones.
People often take life for grated, but GOODBYE FOR TOMORROW persuades us to re-examine the meaning of life. Nobuhiko Obayasi is a forerunner in Japanese film and the creator of TRANSFER which opened in Korea in the beginning of this year. GOODBYE FOR TOMORROW illuminates the Japanese popular movie culture and introduces a unique emotional experience created by Nobuhiko Obayasi.

Obayashi Nobuhiko

Born in 1938 in Japan, he started making 8mm films while he was in college. His first 16mm film MAN WHO HAS EATEN won the special Jury Prize at the 1963 Belgium Inter national Experimental Film Festival. He directed his first 35mm film HOUSE in 1977, and since then he has worked on over 25projects.
