Synopsis

THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT is a critically acclaimed film created by a talented new Australian director Stephan Elliott.
Three showgirls, Felicia, Mitzi, and Bernadette, are headed towards a resort hotel in Alice Springs to play in a month long cabaret show. They must travel across the country in a customized lavender bus with the heading PRISCILLA posted on the front. Asides form having tremendous talents in singing and dancing, the three performers are not your typical showgirls. Felicia and Mitzi are drag queens and Bernadette is a transsexual. On their two-week adventure to Alice Springs they meet a few outbacks who find the three female/male entertainers quite unusual, sometimes amusing, and at times threatening. The three seem to find themselves in the most awkard situations during their journey. With colorful costumes, sleak choreography, and a groovy soundtrack, this musical comedy does not carry the typical elements of your ordinary road movie, but its original characters and sociopolitical content persuade a different look at gays in society
