Synopsis

With its lively Canadian humor and extravagant special effects, KARMIAN presents itself as a cute vampire story. Karmina is a 140 year old vampire who leaves her hometown, Transylvania in order to escape from a forced marriage. She lands in America where her aunt lives as a human with the help of a special serum. Karmina soon falls in love with rocker, Philippe but Karmina’s desire to become human is not easily fulfilled. Meanwhile her fiancé from Transylvania, Vlad follows her to Quebec…
Director Gabriel Pelletier’s comment on Communist Russia’s totalitarianism and Capitalist middle class monotony sets a ingenuous example of spoof films as vampirism which represents both control and subordination collides with the archetypal middle class of Quebec.
