Synopsis

Alan Steadman, a successful but disillusioned city lawyer, feels the need to ?scape?to the country to contemplate the responsibilities of the inheritance bequeathed him on the death of his grandfather. The prospect of an abandoned Victorian mansion in a lonely southern valley stimulates a re-evaluation for Alan? personal and professional commitments. On his first night as resident, Alan dreams with extraordinary intensity that a beautiful red-haired young woman makes passionate love to him. Inquiring of Donohue, a Catholic priest of dubious character, Alan learns of the origins of the estate and of the tragic death of Charlotte Heatherington. When business associate and confidante Jessica visits, she prevents a near drowning that provokes a deeper quest to uncover the reasons for Alan? continuing dreams and the life-threatening events. On a night when Alan? resolve to stay at the house fails, his crippled hand is miraculously healed. Charlotte? legacy draws Alan across the intervening years when he uncovers an old wedding dress, a diary and a photograph of two lovers... Alan and the red-haired woman of his dreams. After meeting partner Trishia Downie in Beyond Reasonable Doubt, the couple formed Matte Box Films and over the last decade have been responsible for more than 350 commercials, documentaries, and film clips, winning five major international awards.
