Little Dark Poet

Mike BOOTH

UK1998 6min color

Synopsis

An inspired poet is engrossed in his thoughts. Inside his head, there is an imaginary couple. As he jumps from one idea to next, the lovers are kept busy acting out his capricious thoughts. The poet dictates when the lovers talk, date, have sex and abuse each other, leaving them restless and exhausted. Little Dark Poet is a mixture of live action and stop-motion animation that employs a variety of animation techniques. The amusing figure of the poet was created by puppet manipulation while the imaginary lovers were played by real-life actors. The use of computer graphics often make the actors appear somewhat comical. A few scenes from gothic horror films were effectively used to portray the dark side of the poet? nature and some erotic scenes add an interesting twists to the film. (KIM Eui-Chan)
