Synopsis
The film begins from the feet of people waiting for a subway train. In the early parts of the film are mixed trekking shorts showing the feet and shorts that make the viewers feel the speed of the train. When the train comes, people get on and the doors are closed. Boys carrying chickens mimic their cries. Others follow suit by making such crying sounds in different languages. The entire coach becomes a chicken house. The opening scene shows the title Good Morning Germany in various languages and this linguistic concern is exhibited throughout the film. The utmost concern is about the objects directed by languages and the diversity of signs and symbols. Languages share the same objects but lose the function of communication when they are divided into national tongues. The subway train is a space shared by people but it is not a space of communication but of discontinuation. In this film, the subway train is a space in which people of different countries are able to communicate owing to the same object, the chicken. It's like the people are shouting We are the world in the form of chicken cries. It is funny that chicken is the tool of communication and that the chicken cries out real cries after the much ado in the subway coach. (PARK Ji-Yeon)
