France1998 18min b&w

Synopsis

In the Praxia galaxy, a new inhabitable planet is discovered. A group of pilots, including Milius, go on an expedition in search of the planet. Inside the spaceship, some mysterious incidents throw Milius into a state of deep confusion as he travels across the world of virtual reality. This futuristic SF film has notable special effects, much of them owed to computer graphics. The fast pace of the film and the use of black and white images work as effective tools in reinforcing its fantastic theme. Christian Boisliveau? unique taste in images and meticulous attention to details are revealed in many scenes, including the scene where Milius wanders around in the space of virtual reality. Some of the interesting twists in the film include the hint that the artificial intelligence named Liza had once been a human. The atmosphere created in this film reminds one of the dismal outerspace depicted in Alien 3. Although we see no monstrous creatures here, we are still left with an unknown fear for the future.
