Synopsis

Filmmaking is a long and winding road for all who dare to take the journey. This behind-the-camera movie is a comic but realistic take on the pitfalls of creating on celluloid. The film begins with the toothy, ego-driven leading man (Bruce Campbell, Evil Dead) from America crawling out of a limousine window because the door is stuck upon his arrival at an ice rink, a back-drop for the tale of a hockey goalie in love. Disasters - big and small - are abound as the cast and crew slip, slide and wobble on and off the ice. Nor a single shot is filmed on the first day of the shoot because the Lithuanian hockey team - hired to reduce production costs - can? understand directions, all the ice melts because no one remembers to turn off the lighting during lunch time. To complicate matters more, the director, leading actor and actress become involved in a love triangle. But the highlight of this film is the producer? tear-jerking struggle against the odds to submit this film to the Venice Film Festival. Jean-Philippe Toussaint gives new meaning to the art of slapstick comedy spiked with a dash of irony through cool-headed introspection. (ZEONG Chosin)
