Synopsis
Filo is an unemployed film school graduate who just can't seem to get a break from life. His inability to find work has put a terminable strain on his relationship with is girlfriend Marie. To make ends meet, Marie must wait on tables in Greenwich Village and put her dreams of becoming a dancer on the back-burner. Desperate, Filo takes a job as a video stringer for a company supplying video reports on nightly crimes and disasters occurring in the city of New York. Slowly, Filo begins to acquire a taste for the gruesome as the voyeuristic nature of his work takes over his life. As his boss Wolko (Burt Reynolds) pressures him to get more and more graphic material, Filo loses himself in the images he? captured. When Marie finally walks out on him, he quickly spirals into his own visual Hell. Stringer succeeds in portraying these media ?mbulance chasers?as victims of the public? insatiable and grotesque desire to feed on cheap thrills, blood and sex and poses and answers the question ?here will this vicious cycle end??(production notes)
