Synopsis
The adventures of the Angels? the most popular radio serial program in Brazil, is an action-filled drama which broadcasts the exciting battles between the ?ngels?and a villian called ?carlet Scorpion? Engrossed in the serial, people in Brazil fanatically support the ?ngels?and fiercely detest the drama? villian. The basic structure of the drama doesn? quite seem to reflect real life events however. Rita, an ambitious dubbing artist behind the voice of the ?ngel? seems to be plotting a dubious scheme for her personal success. Meanwhile Gloria, the obsessed fan of the ?ngel?and the writer Alvaro, firmly believes that the Scarlet Scorpion is committing the crimes in the real world. She is naturally terrified, when the ?carlet Scorpion?breaks into her apartment while she? listening to the very last episode of the series. The question is, will the ?ngel?come to her rescue? Vampire films have been dominating the Western Horror genre for a long time. Scarlet Scorpion, made by Ivan Cardoso in 1986, has opposing characteristics to those found in the 3rd world films from Latin America. The film liberally crosses between the boundaries of fiction and the real life, inviting the audience to a fantasy trip filled with nerve-wrecking tension. (LEE Jong-Eun)
