Synopsis

A peaceful Eucalyptus forest is suddenly disturbed by an invasion of logging trucks and bulldozers. As the shouts of the loggers and heavy sawdust fill the forest, the hones of the animals are destroyed and they run away in panic. On the next morning Blinky, a little Koala, finds himself lost and alone in the desolate forest. Suffering from memory loss caused by the shock, Blinky wanders around the forest looking for his mother. During the search he comes across another Koala called Nutsy, who joins his trip. Together they meet the wise Wombat, who guides them to the emergency shelter built by the evicted animals. Blinky fails to locate his mother at the shelter, and is told by his friends that their nests have been cut down and carried away to the sawmill. With an army of his friends including Splodge, Flap, Marcia and Jacko, Blinky ventures into the sawmill and finds his beloved mother. As they make the hurried escape, however, Nutsy gets caught by Clea, a niece of the head logger, and is kept as her pet. Blinky summons his friends and goes back to the sawmill to rescue her and together they break the machinery that destroyed their homeland. Blinky is an animation film from Australia based on the ?he Great Adventures of Blinky?written by the New Zealand writer Dorothy Wall. Achieving much commercial success in Australia, it was made into a 26 part TV mini-series. One of the discerning features of the film is its use of real life shots to depict the forest in realistic detail. (LEE Jong-Eun)
