Synopsis

Set in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, MEL is a modern day fairy tale surrounding a giant turtle named Mel. Kept in secrecy by Bill (Ernest Borgnine), Mel lives a safe and peaceful existence on Bill? lakeside ranch. This soon changes when Bill? grandsons come to live with him for the summer. Grudgingly, the boys try to adjust to the ?ld fashioned?ways of their grandfather, but little do they know that their lives are soon to be turned upside down when Grandpa introduces them to Mel, the larger-than-life reptile who must be served an astounding amount of pancakes every morning. But lurking in the shadows is Bailey Silverwood (Jack Scalia) who wants Mel for his own personal gains. He sees a fortune to be made in Mel by making him the star attraction at his nearby theme park. The boys and Bill unwittingly fall prey to his devious trap. Silverwood almost succeeds and just when it appears that he is about to reveal the real legend of Swanson Lake, a little magic intervenes. Wen the boys are placed in imminent danger, Mel comes to a daring rescue and takes them on a fatastic flight. (Cassie YOO)
