Synopsis

Seventeen year old Andrea is smart, beautiful and with an admission to Brown University, she? has it all. But her chance meeting with the handsome, brooding rocker, Todd Sparrow changes her secure little world. Troubled by her sexuality, her major goal is to lose her virginity, preferably with Todd. Soon, her dreams do come true. Well not exactly, her first encounter, referred to by her friend Darcy as a ?arm-up? is with a guy named Kevin as a Todd Sparrow album ironically plays in the background. But it? not long before Andrea finally beds with the man of her dreams only to find out that he? not keen on lasting relationships. Obsessed with capturing his heart once and for all, Andrea begins a journey that takes her through the thriving Portland underground-music scene, through heartbreak, confusion and finally a deeper sense of herself. Based on the best selling novel by Blake Nelson, Girl is a coming of age story told through the first person narrative of the lead character as it chronicles her emotional journey from straight-A student to rock groupie. Dominique Swain (Lolita, Face-Off) plays Andrea with intelligence and vulnerability, proving that the road to womanhood isn? an easy one to travel. (Cassie YOO)
