IM Kwon-taek

Began working in the film industry in 1956, and made his debut with < Good-bye, Duman River > in 1962. Until the seventies, he made films in various different genres, and beginning with < Mandala > in 1981, made critically and commercially acclaimed films such as < Gilsodom >(85), < Sibaji >(85), and < Sopyonje >(93). His film < Chunhyang >(2000) was the first Korean film to be selected to the Cannes official competition category.
