Synopsis

< The Little Vampire >, based on a children? story by German writer Angela Sommer-Bodenburg is a family movie that seems to answer that question. < Casper > and < Beetlejuice > already showed us the true union between a lonely outcast child and the supernatural. Tony just moved to Scotland from California with his golf course constructor dad. And every night he sees visions of a vampire family in a moonlight ritual. One night, while his parents are away, Tony befriends the young vampire Rudolph. Rudolph? family is struggling for the chance to become human again, after 300 years of sleep. Tony tries to help them by confronting the vampire hunter. Produced by Ulrich Edel (director of < Last Exit to Brooklyn >) with a script by Karey Kirkpatrick (< James and the Giant Peach >) and Larry Wilson (< Beetlejuice >), < The Little Vampire > is a film both kids and adults can enjoy. The scene where Tony? parents meet Rudolph? parents, and the scene where a dead rat is used for luck, is quite memorable. Although the villain character seems a bit one dimensional, at least the film? portrayal of children seems very realistic. < Jerry Maguire >? Jonathan Lipnick stars as Tony who befriends the vampire family. (KIM Harry)
