Synopsis
Lloyd Kaufman, is the founder of one of the oldest independent film studios in America, Troma Studios. In 1998, he gave us the autobiographical book, ¡¸All I Need to Know About Filmmaking I Learned from the < Toxic Avenger >: The Shocking True Story of Troma Studios¡¹ In 2000, Lloyd Kaufman made < Terror Firmer >, a film about the secrets of Troma Studio's film making based on his book. Kaufman actually stars in the film as the blind director. The film gives us the rare opportunity to peep into his peculiar methods of filmmaking, and how < Toxic Avenger series > is actually made. But this is not a 'realistic' portrayal of the life of Lloyd Kaufman. After all, this is a film from none other than Troma Studios. A serial killer is loose in the streets while a Troma studio is busy making their next feature film. These two seemingly unrelated events start to tangle up, and the staffs of Troma Studios become victims of the serial killing. In the end, the serial killer's identity is revealed. And while the crew members fight with the serial killer, the director gallantly explodes by hugging a bomb. Most of this film is violent yet funny. But when the staff decide to carry on after all their trials, and when the director's daughter exclaims "Let's make a masterpiece" you can't help but be moved. (KIM Sung-uk)
