Synopsis

Three monks from three generations are living in a quiet, secluded mountain temple. The little nine-year-old monk is longing for his mother, and the 20-year-old monk is being haunted by a pretty girl he once met. The temple master, who has yet to become enlightened, is trying to be indifferent to the pains of his disciples. An exceptional tale of longing, resilience, and the human heart, all nestled into the sunning beauty of the Korean countryside.

Diretor

Joo Kyung-jung

Joo was bom in 1959 at Soon-chun, Jeolla Province. A graduate of the Department of Hindi at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Joo was part of a film club while in school and made several short films including Ringing and A Worker s Dawn. Joo also produced the 1990 film, Song of Rebirth. For seven years, Joo took on the development, writing, direction, and production to bring about A Little Monk, his directorial debut.
