Synopsis

Stan BRAKHAGE, who passed away last May, is perhaps one of the greatest experimental filmmakers ever. He made over 300 films during his lifetime, and he experimented with many different methods. He believed that filmmaking is a process of image processing, and therefore most of his films were devoid of any sound. He was obsessed with the image, and claimed that he could explain every single frame. He was an excellent theorist in image making. Desistfilm is one of his early pieces, and was shot at a real-life teenage party. He shows the confusion of a teenage party using realistic and expressionistic methods. (PARK Dong-hyun)
