Synopsis
This is the story of farmer Tasuke, who parts with his favorite horse Ao, and goes through all kinds of hardships to become a well-to-do storeowner. This work carries the message of thrift and industry. The original Kabuki ninjo-banashi (a kind of gag/funny story on human pathos) of ‘Shiobara Tasuke ichitai-ki (The Life Story of Shiobara Tasuke)’ is based on the life of an actual person.
