Synopsis
The dreams when we were young always burn bright. Brat Rock is a film about a rock band that never gives up on their dreams, no matter what difficulties life throws at them. Komei, Gennai, Semimaru, and Chinku Form an indie-band and dream of a rock star life. Another dream that they share is to meet a childhood friend, Hiromi. One day, that dream comes true when komei ad friends rescue a man from committing suicide. But day find out that Hiromi is already in a relationship with a man named Shujo Matano. They learn that when Hiromi's father passed away 2 years ago, his company fell into financial trobles and Matano "saved" the company from bankruptcy. So koemi and company decides to investigate the matter to win back Hiromi. Meanwhile, Komei's band is not going well, as Goro Tamate steals their song and becomes a star. Brat Rock is a little too over the top and a bit too cheerful of a movie. As children, Komei and friends played singing the theme of Gundam and they have not changed a bit. Their carefree attitude is the sole reason that they overcome any obstacles in the film. As such, when they save a man from suicide by singing to him to think about the past and that he is only fooling himself; strangely, the scene fits right in the film. Although a bit cheesy, Brat Rock is film that doesn't dwell on the complicated and dark truth, but looks at the dreams and the hope of a bright future. Brat Rock merges the cinema with cartoon and TV dramas with comic like scenarios and characters. (KIM Bong-suk)
