Synopsis

This is the story about the complex relationship among lonely people who live in a big city – Gwak Sung yep, who is a high school teacher, Gum JA, who is a whore, Jang hyen wook, who is an artist, and his wife, Han gum ok. They live in a Hangang apartment. Oh eun ju, who is the local wife of a Japanese, used to live on the opposite side of the river. She moves to the apartment and becomes close to Gwak sung yep. The monthly rent rises up due to the artifice of a house agency. In addition, the toyshop of the couple is hit through the artifice of a beauty salon. After a frustrated Jang hyen wook quarrels with his wife, he makes love to her. On the same day, he throws himself into the river. Han kum ok, who gave a fortune to Ma gum ja to leave the apartment, follows her husband. Eun ju becomes a Buddhist and Gwak Sung yep leaves the apartment.

GO Yeong-nam

One of the most prolific directors in Korea, he directed over 100 films in his lifetime. His directorial debut film is The Lost Sun (1964) and directed his best-known film The Land of Snow (1977), Subzero Point ’81 (1981).
