Shin Sang Ok

Korea1967 100min 35mm Color

Synopsis

Dream is a film version of Lee Gwang-soo's same title novel, Dream, which is based on The Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms. The feature is about famous monk, Choshin. Director Shin had such strong passion for transmigration of the souls, that he, in fact, made two films in 1955 and 1967 on the same theme. A monk's daydream where he experiences a very different life than his, Dream achieved a unique fantasy film personality without being too pompous. Choshin's daydream in which he completes love, which can be hard in reality, rises above the agony of the worldly desires, when he wakes from his dream. While the film succeeds in maintaining the grace of the original work, Dream presents skillful director's ability to trace the transient of the human life.
