Synopsis
Roman porn which generated a number of directors including Kiyoshi KUROSAWA, Masayuki SUO, and Hideo NAKADA is an unusual example in the world film history where a massive amount of movies were produced pursuant to a company's policy. While NIKKATSU's roman porn is closely associated with depressed Japanese film business in the 70s, it has become the landmark in the Japanese film history through continued discovery and excavation. As a result, overturning interpretations were added to political critics allowing it to assume excessively positive roles at times. However, some movies are indeed qualified for rightful evaluation.
Ecstacy of the Black Rose is directed by Masaru KONUMA, one of the brilliant names in NIKKATSU's numerous roman porn features. Unlike other directors who made their entry into general dramatic movies after winning fame, he insisted upon roman porn throughout his career.
