Synopsis

This movie is branded by Seijun SUZUKI. In fact, this statement may be all that is needed to explain The Call of Blood. The brothers whose father is killed by an opponent yakuja unite together after 18 years for revenge. Destined love between the brothers and ladies, then the fateful day of a ghastly gunfight. Hideki TAKAHASHI and Akira KOBAYASHI, star actors of the time performed as the main characters.
Seijun SUZUKI intersperses the film with his style by inserting jaunty elements into the traditional genre framework of yakuja, revenge, and a gunfight. The best-known scene appears in the middle where the two brothers have a conversation in a car. The moments of confirming the brotherhood and determination for revenge are wrapped with a delicate touch of pouring rain and the ocean with no sense of perspective. (KWON Young Min)
