The producing of director LEE Eun Su's Woman Detective Mary was in the hands of Sheen Productions Inc., the forerunner of Korea/Hong Kong co-production at the time. Accordingly, the screen is infused with various Hong Kong sights mounted on the spy narrative of sweeping an international drugs ring. Reflecting the trend of 'hostess movies' emerged early 70s, explicit sexual expressions are inserted here and there, the best bit of which is the 'group bathing hostesses' scene. Luvina took the leading role of Mary who is more renowned as the designer of an apparel brand named after her. (Jin PARK)
