Synopsis

Ji Suk was living in Tokyo, Japan with her husband, a correspondent. One day, she knocks a person down with her car by accident where Wan Bae, a Korean resident, shows up just in time to help her out. In the meantime, Ji Suk's husband gets killed while keeping company with Anna who refused to be repatriated to North Korea. Taking this opportunity, Ji Suk and Anna stay together and Ji Suk is gradually impressed by Wan Bae's hospitality. Directed by KIM Soo Yong in 1968, Correspondent in Tokyo is an archetypal feature of spy movies massively produced during the 60s and 70s along with the popularity of 007 series. Tokyo in those times was not only a symbolic cosmopolitan of Asia in consort with rapid growth and westernized modernization but also a place where ideologic tensions between North and South Korea were present. KIM Soo-yong graduate Seoul National University College of Education, made his debut in 1958 with , and directed over hundred films over the years. Made many literary films such as The Seashore Village (1965), Mist (1967), and Spring, Spring (1969), and worked with full energy until the mid-seventies. Retired in 1984 when his film, was subjected to censor ship, but returned in Scent of Love (2000) with .
