Synopsis

A world where war has become an everyday thing even changes the grammar of children's films. While children's films in the past told stories of hope and love in a fantasy world that is far apart from reality, The Seven for Daran never departs from the real world. The film talks about hope for the world in the adventures of our main character in the middle of warfare. Jimmy is an 11-year old European boy who goes to Africa with his mother. The only thing that interests him in this unfamiliar environment is video games. One day, Jimmy encounters a mysterious speaking giraffe named Seraf who tells Jimmy that he should find hope by stopping a tribal battle going on in the jungle. Jimmy embarks on an adventurous trip with an African girl, Charita. The Seven for Daran progresses in a simple dichotomy of city and nature. The film's message of reconciliation and love is simple yet intense. Although a happy ending in reality would be a distant dream, that is exactly why the message shown by Jimmy in this film holds vast implications for this world. (HUH Nam Woong)
