Synopsis
When the elderly fall in love, they change as far as this movie portrays. Inge, an older woman married for 30 years falls in love with a 76-old Karl and finds out her sexual desires that she had forgot for 30 years. She distrusts her feelings and becomes afraid of the consequences of her betrayal but their relationship gets even deeper as time elapses. Surprisingly, their wrinkled face and body as well as their feelings for each other are beautifully portrayed in the film. In a number of sex scenes, the psychological changes, relationship and the physical harmony are well captured. Karl tells her to get a divorce while her husband Werner tries to protect their marriage. Inge makes up her mind, and her choice brings about huge changes to everybody. Awarded with Jury's Award with Summer in Berlin, Andreas Dresen pictures a love story for the geriatric couple more engaging and even hotter than affairs of young people. Invited to Cannes International Film Festival, the movie drew a sensational attention. (KWON Yong Min)
