Synopsis

Roy and Jessie, a traveling couple after their time spent in a Chinese mission, become "compartmentmates" with Carlos and Abbie, another couple who boarded the Trans-Siberian in the border region. Soon, Carlos's penetrating gaze upon Jessie suggests sexual tension between the couples, to the point of palpability. Then, Roy misses his train after a break en route; a murder takes place; the missing drug investigator Grinko is aboard the train. Transsiberian quotes a Russian saying "You may live your life full of lies but can never undo your past built upon ones," which serves as its theme. Like an iron horse, a man stranded in dire situations lies, cheats, ignores his conscience. Still, his life goes on. This Brad Anderson movie, showcasing the awe-inspiringly vast Siberian panorama, questions the meaning of freedom and peace earned at the cost of wrongdoing. (LEE Yong Cheol)
