Tale 52

Greece2008 97min 35mm Color Asian Premiere

Synopsis

Tale 52 introduces an architect named Iasonas, who grapples with the task of bringing his "forgotten" past back to his consciousness. He falls in love with Penelope, who ends up moving in with him. One morning, he wakes up to find his beloved mate gone. Unfortunately, he is unable to recall what has preceded and has ultimately led to her disappearance. Tale 52 is about a man trapped in the maze of his consciousness, about a character who struggles in the realm of memory. Director Alexis Alexiou creates a unique atmosphere, organic to the theme of this film, capitalizing on his signature styles including mise en scene, which successfully contribute to an ambience that corresponds to the main character's closed, hazy state of mind. Viewers, indulge in the intriguingly fuzzy whirl of Iasonas's inner world, for as long as it spins. (HONG Sung Nam)
