Japan2007 133min Digi-beta Color Asian Premiere

Synopsis

The movie is based on a novel of the famed Japanese mystery writer Natsuhiko KYOGOKU but the novel and the movie are very different. The occurrences are similar but the sequence are totally different. The movie is divided into three; first, a detective develops the special power to see into people's memories after he returned from World War II. second, a stuffed boxes containing the mutilated bodies are found. third, the daughter of a famous ex-actress suddenly disappears. Other interesting characters lead audiences through the journey of finding the real culprit. The order of the occurrences are all mixed up to suggest a multi-dimensional view of who is pulling the wires, which makes it difficult for audiences to deduce the developments of events during the movie. Interestingly, the occurrences and clues seemingly unrelated to each other turn out to be engaged in causal relationship. The Shadow Spirit is the second novel of KYOGOKU's to have been made into a movie after Summer of Ubume. A famous animation studio Clam schedules to make this film into an animation. (KANG Yu Jung)
