Songsak MONGKOLTHONG

Thailand2007 98min 35mm Color Korean Premiere

Synopsis

This masterpiece by Songsak MONGKOLTHONG, a protégé of the Thai cinematic hurricane Pang Brothers, suggests he will relish a very bright future in his filmmaking career. Maximizing the signature thriller genre booby trap elements, the scarcely-populated urban landscape, the Buddhist karmic sentiment and, above all, the familiar "female vengeance" theme which confidently strikes a chord with the vast majority of Asian audience, MONGKOLTHONG treats his viewers to a roller-coaster ride to a sheer horror ecstasy, as the main character Yuth (physician) attempts to cross the border between this world and the world beyond, by experimenting with a film that was shown at an outdoor cinema in the Kamchanod forest on January 29, 1989.
