Synopsis

Cascades of blood —I mean it literally— is the opener for The Machine Girl, a movie that, for the most part, resembles a huge joke. Definitely belonging to the Dead Alive sort of splatter genre, the film showcases a muddy, outrageous twist of, say, a scoopful of blood and a bowl of dempura mixed together. The intensity of physical mutilation is jaw-dropping, too, as in the line "I'll pulverize you!" literally translating to a scene where a poor human being is powdered, really. The plot basically follows a woman's avenging her younger brother's death. In the world where everybody is consumed with the idea of revenge/avenge, audience who wanted to see highly-executed special effects and drama with a clear-cut structure may find themselves stranded to the point of hopelessness. Still, there is something magnetic and irresistible about this crazy escapade. Go figure. (HUH Ji Woong)
