Synopsis
The underlying question: "Can mathematicians be heros?" Some just might. In Fermat's Room, four mathematicians who have devoted their entire lives to cracking enigmatic formulas and codes are invited to a place called Fermat's Room, where they discover they're the guests of honor who will soon share a gruesome fate. While figuring out that the "nickname" given to each one of them suggests their imminent death, they are presented with a series of riddles —one at a time with a minute to crack them respectively. Failure means the room will inch its way in little by little, eventually killing them all. With the whole confined space and coding thing going on, Fermat's Room reminds us of Cube, though it does a fair amount of seducing viewers with its own intricate schemes. An irresistible choice for fans who regard cerebral puzzles as the key ingredient. (KANG Yu Jung)
