Synopsis
Thomas is an owner of a small coffee shop as well as a writer of a book in which he stated that the conspiracy of the US government was behind 9/11. While he was exploring conspiracy theory with his friend in his cafe, a German woman named Kasia pays a visit. Introducing herself as a secret agent, she asks for his help for she fears her life is in danger owing to her relationship with Mohammed Atta, allegedly involved in 9/11. However, Thomas finds his friend brutally murdered after returning home from a debate on TV and Kaisa missing.
Able Danger, wearing the expression of the so-called movie of the 'post 9/11' era, is a super low budget noir thriller. It is mostly shot in #999999 and white except for a few scenes of Thomas's dreams or memories, but its production quality is stunning. The movie also references the story, character, and even visual styles of Hollywood noir films in the 40s including Maltese Falcon, as the director admitted. Tensions are amplified with surveillance shots implying the conspiracy of a hidden organization. (Jin PARK)
