Program Note

A group of travelers arrive in an empty mansion. They become anxious to know that there has been a murder against travelers in the area. It’s not a devilish homicide, but a swarm of strange mosquitos that await to kill them. The huge amount of mosquitos flying over the sky are powerful enough to lift a human being. The film exaggerates the image of the human body attacked by the mosquito swarm and scattered all over the air. The manner of description is impractical that the scene is also ridiculous rather than brutal. With the mere and careless characters, the confrontation with the mosquitoes is transformed into a fuss episode, and the way of expressing a large mosquito is also a blatant level that reveals that it is a punk graphic or a model. All these elements emphasize the comic nature of the film. The ultimate direction of this horror film is clearly for entertainment. However, in order to prevent the infestation of mosquitoes, the situation all the gaps are blocked and cut off the outside reminds the fear of reality like air pollution. The film story is not at all just a foolish fantasy. (KIM So-hee)
