Synopsis

People related to medical business disappear mysteriously. The investigation leads to the arrest of an unknown man who, upon interrogation, reveals his motives and intentions. Such revelations take us deep into the dirty business of medical industry.

Program Note

This Indian film is a high-quality action thriller blockbuster that blends strong catchy musical beats with fancy group dance. By ranking 5th in the list of highest grossing Tamil films of all time with KRW 40 billion, the film made up for the high production cost of about KRW 20 billion. After people in the medical industry went missing for unknown reasons, the police arrested a suspect. The dirty tricks that the medical industry easily played to take people’s lives lightly in exchange for money, as well as double - sided aspects are shown during the interrogation of the suspect about his motive and reason that had continued from the past. Songwriter Rahman, who won Oscars for original score and original song in Slumdog Millionaire, showed magnificent group dance with loud music and camera works that freely switched from slow to fast motions with fantastic colors. One almost forgets that this film took place in the poorest district in Tamil. The social critical message that appears often in South Indian movies is shown with enough budget to be a mainstream Bollywood movie. (PARK Sung-ho)
