Synopsis

Ane attends a birthday party in the countryside. Suddenly, inexplicably, all of them are dead except Ane. She runs away into the woods with wore an oxygen mask.

Program Note

At her friend’s birthday party, Ane comes wearing gas mask. She is the only one to escape from the party when all the other guests suddenly pass out. Although the gas mask protects her from the polluted air outside, it can also be an obstacle for these mature and independent girls, who believe they are already ‘perfect beings’. Proof comes in the final scene when all the girls freely breathe fresh air by a big lake after negotiating dark and narrow underground passages. (HWANG Hye-min)

Karlos Alastruey is a filmmaker from Spain. He started making films in 2003 after a visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina that inspired him. His feature film Sometime in the Night (2016) received the award for best foreign feature at the Action On Film Festival in 2016, California.
