Synopsis
A famous opera singer and her dissatisfied son take a trip. They go through vast snowy fields to reach a remote village, which is grandpa"s hometown but feels unfamiliar. The son vanishes without a trace while they are in the village church. The heartbroken mother loses her voice and cannot leave the village. The story keeps taking unexpected turns and the son"s disappearance - which initially seemed like the sole reason the mother was staying in the village - no longer feels important as the story develops. That is how the director adds mystery to a movie that started out with a simple story. The cold snowfields are very effective in creating a mysterious atmosphere. There is a surreal and religious aspect to the movie with moments where life and death seem to cross paths, but such moments feel spooky rather than sublime. (NAM Da Eun)
