Born in 1972, Kashyap is a renowned Indian director and screenwriter. His film Black Friday (1999) was selected at the competition at Locarno Film Festival. He directed and wrote the scripts of films including No Smoking (2007), Dev.D (2009), and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). He served as a jury member at many film festivals including Venice, Sundance, and Busan.
