Synopsis

The Fearless Vampire Killers is a 1967 film by Roman POLANSKI, known for his uncanny abilities to portray emotional turmoil unfolding in a confined space, in the most dramatic and terrifying fashion. Without losing the fun of a low-budget B-class movie, the film offers one of the funniest yet the most gothic vampire stories. An odd-ball professor ABRONSIUS is a genius who studies vampires. He travels around Romania with his loyal yet clumsy assistant Alfred to further his research. They arrive at a strange inn, decorated with loads of garlic. That night, Sarah, the beautiful daughter of the innkeeper, is kidnapped by Count von KROLOCK, living in the castle. Livid with the count’s act, the innkeeper rushes to the castle to rescue her but is found blood-sucked to death the following morning. Realizing his work is close to a breakthrough, ABRONSIUS sneaks into the castle with Alfred by his side. POLANSKI not only directs the film but also plays the part of the assistant, as his wife Sharon TATE plays the part of Sarah. (While being pregnant, TATE is brutally murdered by religious fanatics after POLANSKI directs Rosemary’s Baby. She has become an actress who has met probably the most tragic ending.) (JEONG Ji Yeon)
